Sofie Fleerackers is Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Fellow in International and European Law at the University of Amsterdam (ACELG) and PhD Fellow at KU Leuven. Her research focuses on (the law of) political influence, notably the interplay between lobbying and litigation as (corporate) political advocacy in the EU. During her PhD, she collaborated with FIDH Brussels as Rule of Law Fellow and held visiting positions at the European University Institute (2025) and IEE-ULB (2022).
Prior to her PhD, Sofie fulfilled the role of EU Law and Policy Advisor at Linklaters LLP and has worked at the International Criminal Court and European Parliament. At KU Leuven, Sofie held positions in teaching Human Rights Law (2021 – 2022), EU Law (2023), and Private International Law (2023-2024); and as Research Fellow on AI and healthcare at the Centre for IT and IP Law in 2022. Sofie holds a Bachelor and Master of Laws (LLM) from KU Leuven, complemented with a Master of Advanced Studies in European Policies and Public Administration at KU Leuven and Sciences Po Paris (MSc), bridging law and politics.
