The climate keeps deteriorating. The effects of this change are being felt all around the world and have the potential to significantly infringe upon human rights and to undermine the functioning of democracy. The conference aims to discover and discuss precisely these relations, looking both at risks of climate change and how human rights and democratic theory can strengthen calls for climate action.

About the Conference

The conference is meant to inform about and support ongoing work. We will therefore discuss articles that are still work in progress and hope that participants engage with the shared drafts beforehand.

We look forward to welcoming participants in person for this conference, which will take place on-site at the Amsterdam Law School (Roeterseiland Campus, Building A). Before registering, please ensure that you are able to travel to Amsterdam as online participation will not be possible.

The conference is free of charge. The working group is able to give out a limited number of stipends in case of financial need. We in principle expect participants to bear their own costs. To request financial assistance, please email: c.v.kammeringer@uva.nl.
