Szilárd Gáspár-Szilágyi joins ACELG as postdoctoral researcher
On 1 November 2015, Dr Szilárd Gáspár-Szilágyi will take up a position as postdoctoral researcher at ACELG. He will do research into existing or negotiated ISDS clauses in the new generation of EU and US free trade and investment treaties.
Szilárd Gáspár-Szilyági obtained his doctoral degree in 2015 at the University of Aarhus with a dissertation on The ’Direct Effect’ of EU International Agreements Through a US Lens. During his PhD he was a visiting researcher at the TMC Asser Instituut (The Hague) and a Grotius Research Fellow at University of Michigan Law School (USA). He is the author of several academic articles in among others European Law Review, Common Market Law Review and European Public Law. He joins ACELG after having taught EU Criminal Law and EU Foreign Relations Law at the Hague University of Applied Sciences.
At ACELG he will pursue research on existing and negotiated ISDS clauses in the new generation of EU and US free trade and investment treaties. His research will focus on whether these clauses achieve a proper balance between the interests of foreign investors and the regulatory powers of the host-States and how future ISDS clauses should be constructed in order to achieve this balance.
