ACELG senior researcher Joana Mendes wins prize by UvA Faculty of Law for her publication on Participation and the Role of Law

Just like in the previous year with winner Madalina Busuioc, ACELG is once more proud that one of its members is among the winners of the prize in the Faculty of Law competition for Best Publication. Joana Mendes, Assistant Professor in European Law, won second prize for her publication 'Participation and the Role of Law after Lisbon. A legal view on article 11 TEU' (Common Market Law Review, 48:1849 - 1878, 2011).

According to the assessment committee the article provides a convincing argument, it is 'lucid, well focused, clearly structured and well written. The argument is cogent and highly relevant, both socially and politically. It is an exemplary piece of doctrinal work. It is innovative in that it proposes a legal, as opposed to political science, view on participation.'
