First ACELG Annual Conference on 'Open EU Decision Making'

Open EU Decision Making: A Constitutional Challenge. Promise, Practice and Perils

20Oct2011 09:30 - 17:00

Conference

Thursday, 20 October 2011 Library of the University of Amsterdam, Doelenzaal Organized in conjunction with Inaugural Lecture Professor Deirdre Curtin

Introduction to conference

This conference aims to highlight the principle of openness as expressed in Article 1 of the Treaty of the European Union and to explore its implications across the different levels of power, legislative, executive and judicial. In this manner it adopts a legal-institutional approach that goes beyond the ‘usual’ equation of transparency with access to documents. The speakers combine both established scholars and younger scholars who have just finished (or almost), relevant doctoral research in the field.

Inaugural Lecture

The conference precedes and complements Professor Curtin’s inaugural lecture, titled 'Top Secret Europe'
